Boost Your Energy With Bravery

Author: Heather Dominick

No matter what approaches you take to care for your energy, one of the quickest ways to take your life to the next level and to start living in a BIG way is to start taking risks. This can seem like a simple statement and a tall order, but it's where the heart of the matter is. It deserves our attention.

So how can you actually go about becoming a risk-taker? Risk-taking is usually associated with jumping off cliffs or quitting your job on a moment's notice. Sounds pretty scary, yes? You want to go about your risk- taking in an educated way, and that means being in touch with how your shifts in energy are feeling to you. It's all about bringing about a better way of feeling, not spinning off into new ways of being distracted and stressed out. Let's go over 3 ways to keep yourself grounded as you bring new ways of thinking, better food and more action into your life.

Practice gratitude. When you're so busy being grateful for all the things you have (your health, your mobility, a few bucks in your pocket, food & shelter, friends & family), then your getting off track won't stand a chance! A great practice is a daily list of things you're grateful for. You can do this in the morning before you start your day or before you go to sleep as an acknowledgement of what you did during the day.

Ask yourself a question. If you're busy struggling to figure something out (i.e., how you're going to meet a certain cost, how to settle a conflict with a loved one), try letting go of the struggle and simply letting the question of what to do "hang out"? for a while. Ask it, and then sit quietly and see what answers pop into your head. You can also try writing it on a piece of paper and putting it under your pillow.

Try resting your gaze. Find something that you find soothing to look at. Some people use a landscape picture, a burning candle, a spot on the wall, a flower" ?it really can be anything. Focus on the object and gaze at it deeply, letting thoughts come and go and staying present in the moment. Let these moments lead you into your future. Just doing this exercise will bring power, as it is a break in your routine.

*Bonus Tip: give yourself permission to follow the answers that come to you, to do things a new way. That is the biggest risk of all, and you'll feel it in your energy.
