Pulling the Rabbit Out of the Hat: Disaster Data Recovery

Author: A.B. Newland

Like most people, when you think of disasters, you probably envision flooding, hurricanes or earthquakes. Yet in the world of a networks, PC's and data or to someone who makes their living using information technology, a disaster can be quite different and yet can have the same paralyzing effects. Similar to an aftershock of a major earthquake, losing ones data suddenly and without warning can leave many a computer technician shocked and in awe or just extremely inconvenienced. Never fear, though, because disaster data recovery is an IT person's ace in the hole and all that is lost is backed up safe and secure with a high degree of reliability and an even higher percentage of probable retrieval.

Flooding and fire damage to a home can be a complete mess. Many people feel ruined because of the loss of irreplaceable items during such an event. As soon as it is established that there is no harm to any of the employees, staff, friends or family the healing of the equipment through a properly thought out disaster data recovery plan can begin. A team of reliable technicians is called in to begin work on your computer equipment or any other piece of equipment that was damaged by the catastrophe.

Many of the techniques and tools the team of experts will use on the equipment are the same as the techniques used to rescue lost data from other machines under lesser circumstances, for example retrieving lost files from a damaged hard drive through a fire is much the same as simple finding lost files from a hard drive with a virus or other sort of infirmity. The important thing is that the data is recovered and business can continue as usual.

Fire and Earthquake Dangers

In a lot of cases, companies or individuals that lose important data to a flood, fire or earthquake face a time of uncertainty that can be very unsettling. Like a good insurance policy, proper planning for back up and disaster data recovery can mean the resumption of business short term. Without it companies stand to loose lots of time and money and may even be bankrupted.

Data recovery technicians are specialized in multiple areas of recovering data including, but not limited to: fire recovery, water damage recovery, and miscellaneous crash recovery that may have occurred with an act involving a sledgehammer and a frustrated information technology worker on his last day of work when the coffee was cold and the air conditioning was broken. Yes, disaster data recovery will always have a place in the annals of office and/or personal lives and this author cannot be more grateful.
