When you are planning to travel by air it can get very uncomfortable flying coach so you as most people want to get the best airline seats possible. Though you may not get good seats. You might be stuck next to a talkative passenger or get motion sickness or any number of things. There are a few guidelines you can follow to try and make your long flight a little less torturous. Try to get to the airport early enough that you have the pick of the seats in your section. There are a number of delays in todays airport so you should definitely arrive a few hours early. When you do get on the plane see if you can score yourself an aisle seat. Aisle seats are some of the best seats on the airplane. You wont have to climb over people to get to the restroom if you need to or if you are feeling nauseous. They allow for the most leg and arm room on the plane (besides first class) and its easier to disembark when the plane lands. From they you want to get an aisle seat towards the middle of the plane, preferably between the wings if you are concerned about safety in case of a crash. If you on the other hand want to get away from the engine noise look for something towards the front of the plane as close as possible to the first class seating. For even more leg room you can try to get a seat directly behind one of the emergency exit doors. This provides more room and you have the added benefit of being close to the emergency exit if there is a problem with the flight. There is one drawback to having an aisle seat. You will get clipped from time to time on the arm, leg or shoulder by flight attendants with the snack carts and by those who may be rushing to get to the bathroom. |
