Abandoning Conservation Strategies is Problematic

Author: Lance Winslow

When we discuss energy efficiencies and new technologies some are upset that the leadership is not talking more about conservation of energy. Not conservation of energy from a scientific standpoint because that in fact is already considered in all new energy technologies when converting clean coal in to energy or generating energy from solar or even wind; conservation of energy in transferring from one method to another is indeed part of the process and always considered.

You see what the critics are upset at is that the leadership is not championing the cause of telling citizens to cut back on their usage and thus alleviate price spikes in supply and demand or conserve power by allowing their homes to be set at 78 degrees instead of 70 or 75. The deal is if you did these things our energy issues would be lessened. But as it stands now the United States uses 18% more energy than in did less than a decade ago and each year our citizenry and civilization requires more energy to run.

Luckily at the same time of this increase the pollution per unit of energy has drastically come down and the total pollution to produce all this increased energy has slightly come down. What does all this mean?

Well, it means that it would be wise to save and conserve energy on a consumer and end-user level and that means everything from gasoline to electric power. But at the same time the real key is to promote clean energy technologies to allow us to produce energy without pollution. Consider all this in 2006.
